Meet Tara Carbone, Canadian Certified Counsellor

Tara is a Canadian Certified Counsellor who focuses on creating a safe and supportive environment for her clients to explore their emotions, enhance their well-being, and work through challenges. Her mission is to promote mental wellness and provide personalized support for each persons unique journey! Areas of special interest include:

EMDR Therapy

Tara offers EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing), a specialized therapy for processing trauma and breaking through lifelong patterns. It is especially effective for individuals experiencing the impacts of trauma, as well as those who are cognitively aware of their struggles but find that traditional talk therapy has not yet reached the deeper roots of their emotional experience.

ACT Therapy

Tara utilizes Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT). This means that rather than just trying to eliminate difficult thoughts or feelings, we will work together to help you take steps toward a meaningful life even in the presence of life’s inevitable challenges. This is a mindfulness-based behavioral approach that moves beyond traditional talk therapy. Rather than focusing solely on symptom reduction, we focus on workability.

In our sessions, you can expect:

  • Mindfulness Skills: Tools to stay grounded when emotions feel overwhelming.

  • Values Identification: Clarifying what you actually want your life to stand for.

  • Committed Action: Practical strategies and 'between-session' tasks to help you move toward your goals, even in the presence of difficult thoughts.

IFS Therapy

Tara often utilizes Internal Family Systems (IFS), a model that views the mind as a system of different 'parts.' You might have a part that is highly self-critical, a part that feels anxious and protective, or a part that feels wounded and small.

Instead of trying to get rid of these feelings, we work to understand their positive intent and the roles they've taken on to protect you. By accessing your Self (the calm, compassionate core of who you are) we can help these parts heal, move out of extreme roles, and bring your internal system into balance.
